Bleach TYBW: Did Yhwach Become The New Soul King By Absorbing Mimihagi?

[ad_1]

Bleach TYBW episode 30 ends on a very ominous note. The focus of the third cour of Bleach TYBW was Yhwach’s assault on the Soul King, and the resulting chaos it caused.

While Yhwach did succeed in using Ichigo to kill the Soul King, his plan did not succeed completely, thanks to the intervention from Ukitake and Mimihagi.

However, that too did not last for long.

Though the situation with the Right Hand of the Soul King was a hiccup, it turned out to be nothing more than minor hiccup as Yhwach succeeds in overcoming this situation by absorbing both the remnants of the Soul King and Mimihagi.

The whole development is dark, considering that Yhwach actually called the Soul King his father. Patricide much?

So, naturally, one question remains. Did Yhwach really become the new soul king?

Did Yhwach really become the new soul king?

Well, to answer in short, Yhwach did become the new Soul King after absorbing both Mimihagi and whatever was left of the original Soul King.

After the absorption was complete, we see that Yhwach now gained a new appearance with a set of eyes peeking through from the darkness that now covered his face.

In addition to this terrifying new form, Yhwach is shown to have the powers to completely dismantle the Soul King’s Palace, and also create a new city for the Quincy to live in.

These feat point to the fact that Yhwach indeed became the new Soul King, and that along with the completely broken Almighty, he also had enough powers to tamper with all three worlds.

To be honest though, I don’t feel that Yhwach initially planned on absorbing the Soul King himself. That step of the plan only happened because Mimihagi’s ascendance threw a wrench in his plans.

If Mimihagi were to be instated as the new Soul King, then Yhwach’s efforts to realize his goal would have been in vain.

And so, he came to the solution of absorbing Mimihagi.

Now, coming to the point of absorbing the Soul King, there are some doubts about the whole thing.

Yhwach is a Quincy. So shouldn’t absorbing Mimihagi and in extension the Soul King have caused some sort of problem in him?

Because, the Quincy aren’t compatible with Shinigami powers at all. So how exactly did this thing work out.

Well, here’s the thing: the Soul King isn’t exactly a Shinigami, Quincy, or Fullbringer. He’s more like this ultimate source of spiritual energy, this massive well of Reiatsu that connects everything.

He doesn’t have specific Shinigami or Quincy powers, just pure, raw power. That’s probably why Yhwach could absorb him without any nasty side effects.

In the end, Yhwach achieved his goal, even if it wasn’t in the way he initially intended. He became the new Soul King, reshaping reality according to his will.
