How BLACKPINK Jisoo’s Parents Nurtured Her Into The Fine Woman She Is Today

[ad_1]

Those are the parents we should aspire to be.

BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo has two loving parents who have always seen her as their adorable maknae. Thanks to their care and support, she has grown into a beautiful and kind woman who inspires millions of people every day!

But what did they teach her to ensure she would grow up well? In an interview with Rolling Stone, she described their unconventional parenting style during her childhood.

On the days she didn’t feel like attending classes, they actually allowed her to skip school.

She recalled the times her dad instantly recognized when she was sulking in the morning. When she’d tell him that she was tired and wanted to sleep, rather than push her to go to school, he encouraged her to rest.

Back then—I don’t know what I was thinking—but on some days, if I didn’t want to go to school, I just didn’t. And my parents let me! I’d wake up one morning grimacing because I didn’t want to go to school. My dad would say, ‘What’s up? Why the long face?‘ I’d say, ‘Dad, I’m so tired, I just want to sleep.’ ‘OK, don’t go then!

Her teacher wasn’t happy that she was cutting classes, but she never blamed her parents. She instinctively knew that they were more lenient with her because she was the youngest out of their three children. Their parenting style is especially unique considering that most Asian households are strict when it comes to education!

Then the next day, my teacher would ask, ‘What are you going to do with your life?‘ It’s not that they gave up on me; I think they adored me, especially because I was the youngest kid. They were more liberal with letting me do what I wanted.

But their kindness also had its disadvantages. She wasn’t accustomed to strict rules, so she had to adjust to YG Entertainment‘s many restrictions when she entered the company. “So it was hard for me to transition to [YG], where there were many rules. I had to grow a sense of patience and endurance.”

Ultimately, however, her mom and dad’s leniency is what helped shape her into the fun and cheerful woman that she is today!
