Korean Public Severely Condemns BTS’s Suga For Drunk Driving Incident

[ad_1]

His actions could’ve caused an accident.

On August 7, 2024, Korean media reported that BTS‘s Suga is currently under investigation by the Yongsan Police Station for allegedly violating traffic laws related to drunk driving on an electric scooter. Due to safety concerns, electric scooters, also known as electric kickboards, can only be legally operated if rented and with a license in South Korea. They are subject to similar traffic regulations as cars.

Police sources disclosed that Suga was discovered lying on the street alone on the night of August 6, 2024, after reportedly riding the electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol. A patrolling officer approached and detected the smell of alcohol on him, subsequently escorting him to the nearby police station.

The public condemned Suga for his act, given the severity of drunk driving. Although he was only operating an electric scooter, he could have crashed into traffic or a passerby.

  • There’s so much talk about electric kickboards because they cause so many accidents by iteself, but I can’t believe he was drunk driving one. It’s a relief that an accident didn’t occur.
  • If you ride one while drunk, doesn’t it warrant your license to be revoked? There was someone around me that got their licensed revoked for the same reason LOL.
  • Sigh.
  • They need to revoke his license for that. He should have drunk in moderation.
  • It was really funny how he wrote lyrics about the military, but ended up in public service. Then now, he was found fallen down by himself. HAHAHAHA, the way he always embarrasses himself is legendary.
  • Shame on his morals.
  • Yoongi… I was just waiting for next year where the group would be reunited…
  • Wow.

E-scooters have also been the cause of many accidents in South Korea given the frequency of people using them. E-scooters are usually available for rent on the streets through mobile apps. According to a report by SE Daily, e-scooters’ fatality rate for traffic accidents is 5.6%, 4.3 times higher than the overall traffic accident fatality rate.
