The Disney+ original series “Moving” triumphed at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, claiming the Grand Prize for TV in a ceremony that underscored the growing influence of streaming originals in South Korea’s entertainment landscape.
Held on May 7 at COEX Hall D in Seoul, the prestigious ceremony witnessed “Moving” as the standout winner of the night in the television category. Besides the Grand Prize, the sci-fi drama also took home Best Screenplay for Kang Full and Best New Actor for Lee Jung-ha. 
The Daesang (Grand Prize), the Baeksang’s highest honor, is awarded annually to an individual person or entire work in both television and film. “Moving” has become the second streaming original to claim the top honor for TV, following in the footsteps of the globally acclaimed Netflix series “Squid Game” in 2022. Park Eun-bin won the award last year.
MBC’s historical drama “My Dearest” also made a strong showing, receiving the Best Drama award as well as Best Actor for Namgoong Min. This marks the first time in 12 years that a historical series has won Best Drama, since MBC’s “Moon Embracing the Sun” in 2012.
Netflix’s “Mask Girl” also won two awards and shone in the supporting acting categories, with its stars Ahn Jae-hong and Yeom Hye-ran winning Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
Meanwhile, PD Han Dong-wook earned the Best Director recognition for Disney+’s “The Worst of Evil,” while Lee Ha-nee bagged the Best Actress trophy for her role in MBC’s “Knight Flower.”
Lastly, child actress Yoo Na was recognized for her performance in “The Kidnapping Day,” earning the Best Supporting Actress award.
The 60th Baeksang Arts Awards celebrated outstanding achievements across film, television, and theater. This year’s nominees reflected the impressive surge in high-quality content from streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix, which collectively garnered 20 nominations and 6 of the 11 possible wins.
