According to reports on June 1, Maya Yano, a popular Japanese singer from the band TUYU, has been arrested for stabbing his girlfriend.
The 30-year-old singer is accused of attempting to murder his girlfriend while she was asleep. He stabbed the left side of her chest and then called the police to report the incident. He also called the ambulance.
After arriving at the scene, the police discovered the knife used as the murder weapon right next to Yano’s bed. His girlfriend was taken to the hospital while she had lost a significant amount of blood. The singer was arrested immediately.
Yano admitted his crime at the police station, confessing that he originally planned to kill himself after murdering his girlfriend. When asked about his motive behind the crime, the singer said it was an impulsive decision.
The singer’s girlfriend, who is a minor, is still hospitalized, as per an NHK report. The police are waiting for her to regain consciousness after surgery to further investigate the case.
Meanwhile, Yano started his career in 2012 as a singer and an animation music producer. He later created the band TUYU and established his own entertainment agency in 2023. Apart from his music career, Yano is also a popular YouTuber and is better known by his stage name, Pusu.
