SM Entertainment terminates contract of ex-NCT member Taeil due to criminal charges – Asian Junkie

When the crimes that former NCT member Taeil are accused of were recently revealed, there was a lot of questioning toward SM Entertainment in terms of why he was still with the company. Well, they have seemingly had enough of the speculation around that and have announced they’ve terminated his contract.

We would like to inform you that our exclusive contract with Taeil has been terminated as of October 15, 2024.
Taeil is currently under investigation by the prosecution for a criminal case. This not only constitutes grounds for termination under our contract but also makes it impossible to maintain trust in him as an artist. As a result, both parties have mutually agreed to terminate the contract.

I’m honestly not sure what they found out in the month or so since his removal that they didn’t know before to make this move.
