It’s been a busy summer for K-pop acts releasing Japanese music. Xikers is the latest group to venture into this market with the release of their first original J-pop single Tsuki (Lunatic). The song is composed by the usual KQ Entertainment suspects, ensuring continuity with their Korean discography. In fact, it feels like a natural extension of xikers’ most recent Korean title track We Don’t Stop. 
Tsuki melds old-school hip-hop with modern K-pop influences, delivering a rambunctious energy that matches the group’s youthful spirit. Apart from a melodic pre-chorus, the song relies more on chanted bluster than finely-tuned pop hooks. This approach works well on this style of track, though Tsuki‘s chorus grows a bit repetitive as the song goes on. Its lack of a unique, defining sonic personality makes it a solid — if expected — entry into the Japanese market.
