SOOJIN Makes A Comeback With 'MONA LISA'

[ad_1]

SOOJIN (수진) – MONA LISA

Review

“Mona Lisa” is a hauntingly, captivating track with a middle-eastern vibe and imagery that is complemented by the eerie atmosphere evoked by the desolate deserts and deserted temples in the background. The music video is stunning and feels very expensive, with its unique set-pieces, special effects and the plethora of dancers adorning middle-eastern garments. The only unfortunate thing is the actual song itself, which is very basic and annoyingly repetitive at times, especially at the chorus which fails on all levels.

Overall great atmosphere and instrumentation but the moment the song finishes you are left with no desire to press the repeat button. The short duration doesn't help either. Songs under the three minute mark rarely manage to make an impact and always feel rushed and unfinished, like something was missing. And this is the case here. On the other hand, the mini album features some solid B-side tracks like “Drop Top” and “Summer Daze” which definitely make-up for the lacking title track.
